I often get asked if I will be buying and reviewing the Apple Vision Pro. If you’d caught me in the whirlwind of the first review wave, I'd have shouted, "Hell Yeah!" But now that the hype has simmered down like yesterday's latte foam, I find myself teetering on the fence. Fear not, though, for I've deployed one of my trusty pals to snag me a pair on their next European trip. Still, temptation wrestles with practicality following my three perspectives:
The perspective of a tech channel
As a content creator entrenched in the world of tech, it feels almost obligatory to dip my toes into the Vision Pro pool to keep my street cred intact. Yet, I can't shake the feeling that my audience might give it a collective shrug, turning my review into the most expensive snooze-fest ever. 😂 (utter speculation #1)
The perspective of a user
I've often daydreamed of lounging in bed, gazing up at my bedroom ceiling transformed into the vast expanse of Yellowstone in glorious 120 inches. But reality checks in with two rambunctious kids and a menagerie of pets demanding attention, resulting in Vision Pro immersion lasting no longer than 15 minutes of interrupted time. At $233 a minute, I am afraid it’s not worth it. After the novelty wears off, I can already see myself relegating it to some forgotten corner, out of sight and out of mind. (utter speculation #2)
The perspective of a reasonable human being
Despite being a first-generation device from Apple, I have no doubts that the Vision Pro would be a great product. I was among the first people to purchase the original iPhone in 2007, back when I was a broke-ass student. But that was a phone, a device that I could enjoy and use daily. I can’t cut myself off from the thought the Vision Pro would be, for the most part, a glorified entertainment headset and nothing more. (utter speculation #3)
Personally, I'd rather splurge on a drool-worthy 83-inch OLED for the living room or invest that cash into Apple shares.
I'm itching to see how fellow creators fare with the Vision Pro in their day-to-day lives. Do they actually use it daily?
Channel announcement
Now that we've settled into our new studio and have a handful of videos under our belt as a dynamic trio, I've come to the realization: it's time to crack the whip and implement a rock-solid schedule for us to ride on! Brace yourselves for a weekly video drop every Saturday at 10:00 AM Eastern Time (ET), and not one but two tantalizing YouTube Shorts to spice up your week!
As my editor, Chris continues to hone his craft, the sky's the limit! I see no reason why we can't kick production into high gear and dish out even more content by year's end. 🚀
