I Tried These Apps So You Don’t Have To
But you probably should, because they’re actually good.
After years of using Macs, testing countless apps, and making entire videos about them, it takes something truly special to grab my attention. Most apps promise to “revolutionize” productivity but are just another thing I uninstall a week later.
But these two? They're different. One came as a solid recommendation from a fellow creator, and the other landed in my inbox from the developer himself. Both are free, and one offers a Pro upgrade. Together, they’ve earned a permanent spot in my workflow.
Blip – The AirDrop Alternative I’ve Been Waiting For
The first app is called Blip, and it’s a cross-platform file-sharing app that just works. If you use multiple devices - Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS - you’ll want to check it out. Other apps offer similar functionality, but none that I’ve tried feel as simple and frictionless as this one.
From the effortless login process to the clean, drag-and-drop interface, Blip has become my go-to AirDrop replacement.
What I love most is that everyone I’ve ever exchanged files with remains in my list for quick and easy transfers - no fumbling with settings, no extra steps. Just drop, send, and be done.
Launchy – The App Launcher You Didn’t Know You Needed
The second app was sent to me by its developer, Ivan, and I have to say - he’s built something uber cool. Launchy is a minimalist yet powerful app switcher and launcher that makes navigating macOS effortless.
Here’s how it works: You trigger a keyboard shortcut, and a customizable radial menu pops up, giving you instant access to your most-used apps. No more digging through the Dock or Command - Tabbing endlessly. Just one shortcut, a clean wheel of apps, and instant switching.
What makes it great?
• Customizable App Palette – Drag and drop your most-used apps for quick access.
• Fast Navigation – Use arrow keys or A–Z shortcuts to jump to any app instantly.
• Intelligent Behavior – Set rules like auto-hiding Launchy or closing other apps when launching a new one.
• Seamless Switching – Quickly toggle between open apps or your personalized launcher.
• iCloud Sync – Keep your setup consistent across all your macOS devices.
Launchy is free, with an optional €5.99 Pro upgrade.
Give them a shot, and let me know what you think!

Thanks for your recommendations Mr. E! I will certainly try Blip since I don’t have a Mac, just a Windows PC.
God bless!
