I thought that my days of using Android devices were long gone. That I am not interested in any current offerings, nor do I wish to ruin my AirDrop and Universal Control feng shui… but I was wrong.
When a need arises, one must forget about fruits and robots... right?
I love working and drawing on the iPad mini in the early hours of the day. The mini was so good that I stopped using my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro and sold it. There are, however, a few problems with the mini that kept piling up. It's slow and unable to catch up to my demands, resulting in constant crashes. The screen is below any of the latest standards. It can't be used with a keyboard, nor in a proper stage manager desk setup (with an external monitor). The final nail in the casket was when it was left out of the iPad upgrade roster this October. It was apparent - my hopes for an iPad Mini Pro would never come to fruition.
I thought for a moment about returning to an 11-inch M2 iPad Pro, but I was worried I'd find it too big. I love jotting down and drawing in the middle of the night without dealing with a laptop-size tablet... Otherwise, it becomes too much of a burden.
After some research, the sub-10-inch tablet market had only one real iPad mini competitor, the Galaxy Z Fold.
I KNOW… I KNOW… it sounds ridiculous, and it is, but think about it. What are your options if you want a smaller than 10-inch tablet with a good display, outstanding performance, a high refresh rate panel, and the ability to be docked as part of a setup?
I understand that using a foldable phone as a primary tablet is total overkill and a financial crisis. Still, my choice or mistake will be a fantastic tale to tell as time passes.
Using the Z Fold for its intended purpose so far pays off. It's swift, very versatile, and a pleasure to draw on. Of course, it drives me crazy, mainly because of the lack of AirDrop, but I hope it will grow on me.
Let me know if you want me to create video content about the Z Fold. If you do, feel free to share with me what you are most interested in.
P.S. I can’t imagine using the Z Fold as my primary phone 😂
What I am proud of this week
My iPhone 14 Pro review video was very challenging to put together. Being late to the party while consuming everything on the topic was one of the biggest reasons for being creatively “stuck.” The other reason was the incremental changes between the 14 Pro and the previous generation 13 Pro. I am glad that I delivered a video that I am very proud of. Link below ⤵

My favorite thing so far
November will be loaded with interesting monitor-related content. The items I am waiting to arrive are outside the box of the traditional home setup possibilities, which will lead to some cool desk setup concepts and ideas.
Favorite BTS moment
Prepping the final batch of the ENOUGH mouse pads. After these are gone, it will be a while before the next round.
My 5-year old iPad Pro 10.5" is my "mini" iPad. It may be 5 years old but it is lightweight and still fast enough for my needs, mainly consuming media such as Kindle book and magazine reading. It currently receives system updates too. It partners my 12.9 iPad Pro nicely, maybe soon I will consider replacing it with a Z Fold, because…why not? 😉👍
As someone who is fully embedded in the Apple ecosystem, but has also considered the Z fold, this tale is very intriguing to me. If anyone can find a way to have the best of both worlds, it is E 😊. I would personally love to see a video on how you can get the Z fold to play nice with an Apple set up (or not as the case may be).
