Dining table desk setup

Because why not

We are prepping a new desk setup video, and as I search for the best monitor to my M1 Max MacBook Pro, I keep using the laptop solo.

Not complaining, actually. The laptop as-is is ideal for my needs.

While in this laptop-only mode, I decided to create a new desk setup for my office, and I went for an IKEA dining table. It seemed weird at first, but as I am sitting and writing this newsletter on this setup, I feel inspired and, most of all, surrounded by cosie, homie vibes. You’ll find out more in my upcoming video.

Mini keyboard

In the meantime, I settled to get the latest of Logitech peripherals. I fell in love with the MX mini keyboard. It not only has the most spectacular ambient backlit setting but also clever, dedicated buttons - e.g., Do not disturb - my favorite. This would be the ultimate compact Mac keyboard if it had a built-in Touch ID, but we all know that’s never going to happen.

Mini iPad

I don’t know what’s going on with my mini fever, but it seems I have a fixation for tech that carries the moniker Mini. The iPad mini 6 is in the house. I was trying to resist this purchase, but I caved. as with the iPhone mini, I felt instant affection for this device. To my surprise, it immediately filled in an interesting usage niche.

This is my favorite press and social media morning device for a start. I feel like I’m holding a book or a lightweight newspaper. During the day, it’s my cool-off and relaxing device of choice. The time that it shines the most is at night, though, which was my reason for purchasing it. When I put my son to sleep, I use it to write down my tasks, notes, and scripts for the next day and unwind while drawing and experimenting with wallpapers and other creative ideas. I’ve never used the Apple Pencil more, to be honest, and I don’t miss a physical keyboard at all. Thumb writing in vertical mode is effortless and somewhat fast.
